Can eCap convert any type of vehicle?

For our team it does not matter whether your dream vehicle is old or new. Our options cover the entire spectrum – from tractors, vans and buses to sports cars and classic cars. We take into consideration almost all customer preferences concerning range, performance and equipment, o the extent permitted by the vehicle. Automatic transmissions have the disadvantage of CAN bus data, which we are unable to address according to the current state of technology. This is why the conversion of vehicles with automatic transmissions proves to be extremely time-consuming and in some cases not feasible.

 

How much does an eCap conversion cost?

We aim to offer individual and specialised services in the field of electromobility at a high technical level. The various conversion packages from eCap are tailored to the specific vehicle and each conversion is a custom-made product. Our services are primarily aimed at people who are enthusiastic about innovations and sustainability and not afraid of high-priced conversions due to the labour and component costs involved. Because new technologies need enthusiasts and pioneers. And they won't regret their decision for an electric conversion when they enjoy silent driving pleasure with their cherished vehicle whilst protecting the environment.

 

What justifies the high price of an eCap electric conversion?

We convert a wide variety of vehicles as custom creations and are therefore unable to purchase larger quantities of high-priced electric components at a discount. With us there is nothing off the shelf – every customer has personal preferences and every vehicle is different. The conversion is tailored to the customer and the vehicle. Our team performs time-consuming pioneering work on almost every conversion: e.g. if the electric motor selected is flange-mounted to the original gearbox with parts specially made by us; if the batteries are connected in series or parallel in the space available in the vehicle; if the battery box is developed and produced by eCap, etc.

 

What is the advantage of eCap electric conversion over series electric models?

The demand for electric cars is growing steadily, also fuelled by recent discussions concerning harmful emissions and the growing desire for sustainable mobility. However, car makers are finding it difficult to meet this demand with interesting and individualized offerings. We close this gap by giving every car lover the opportunity to have their very own car of their choice converted into an electric car. So the much-loved and cherished car with the drawback of having a combustion engine becomes a modern electric vehicle with a silent and sustainable drive.

 

What service options does eCap offer following electric conversion?

Following successful conversion, we are your reliable service partner for all aspects of your electric vehicle. We are there for you as part of maintenance intervals or other service requirements. We will of course take care of TÜV main inspections for your electric vehicle. On request, we can also provide extensive support for electric vehicles that we have not converted. Our service is not limited to just the electric components installed.

 

 Which maintenance intervals do I have to bear in mind?

The first inspection of the converted vehicle is necessary after covering a distance of 1,000 km. We check all aspects of the vehicle that were directly or indirectly affected and modified by the conversion. Other maintenance intervals such as yearly inspections are planned with our customers on the basis of individual conversions. The absence of a high-maintenance internal combustion engine usually results in a reduction in the service requirements of your electric vehicle.

 

Don't car lovers miss the familiar sound of their car?

Our experience shows that the joy of travelling in silence trumps the longing for engine noises. But we can also help customers who don't want to go without such sounds – because sound modules can be installed at any time. The familiar sound of the internal combustion engine is then played electronically, with this being possible both inside and outside the vehicle. The best way to convince yourself of the advantages and the pleasure of silent driving is to go on a test drive with us.

 

Can I charge my converted vehicle using a CCS/CSS charger?

Unfortunately this is not yet possible. Our team is already working on a solution.

 

Can I charge my e-vehicle at a Wallbox/charging station?

Naturally, this is possible with the charging capacity of the built-in charger. In general, a Schuko charger is included in the price of the electrical conversion: 3 kW, 230 V, 16 A, single-phase, AC. You can also charge your vehicle at 9 kW or 18 kW. If you opt for a 400-volt system, you can charge at the above ratings as well as at 22 kW.

At 18 kW and 22 kW the charging station must be equipped accordingly (Wallbox or CEE 32 A).

 

How long does it take to recharge my electric vehicle?

The charging time is always different and heavily depends on the built-in battery capacity and the charging capacity of the charger used. The "charging time equals capacity divided by charging power" formula applies here: h = kWh / kW

 

Can eCap equip my vehicle with a range extender?

Unfortunately, this is not yet possible for us. We are working on a solution to be able to offer you this service in the near future.

 

Can I test drive an eCap electric vehicle?

This is possible at any time. You are welcome to request an appointment for a test drive or visit us at events such as the open house day.

 

Will the all-wheel drive feature of my vehicle be retained during electric conversion?

The all-wheel drive feature can usually be retained. The basic principle of our conversion is to flange the electric motor selected to the original gearbox. The gears can still be used along with the clutch. On request we also install a direct drive.

 

Will the air conditioning, heating and power steering be retained during the electrical conversion?

The conversion of the heating and the existing power steering is included in the price of our electric conversion. At your request and with a surcharge, we will also convert the existing air conditioning system as part of the conversion.

 

Is a combination of batteries with solar energy/photovoltaics possible?

In some cases we have already combined solar energy using appropriate space on the roof of the vehicle with the battery system of an electric conversion. However, the time and effort required and the extra costs incurred are out of proportion to the low energy output of such a system.
