VW Beetle “Retro”

The VW Beetle 1200 "Retro" (built in 1984) was converted to an electric drive on behalf of an enthusiastic electric driver. The sight of a beetle in road traffic is pure nostalgia. The sympathetic look of the good old days brings a smile to every observer's face. The smile becomes an astonishment when the retro beetle passes by quickly and silently and impresses with its appearance. No blue exhaust plume and no rattling combustion engine disturb the driving pleasure. The combination of German automobile history and clean electric drive is a real eye-catcher and is often used for city tours and short excursions.

Power

Our team equipped the retro beetle with a 60 kW asynchronous motor. As a result the agile beetle leaves one or the other new car at the traffic light. The top speed of 120 km/h is absolutely sufficient due to the wind noise caused by the design at that time.

Range

According to the wishes and requirements of the customer, the Beetle can reach a range of approx. 100 km thanks to the 16 kWh battery used. Despite the built-in batteries, part of the boot in the front part of the car can still be used for a spare wheel, for example.

Special features

As a “Limited Edition” from Volkswagen, the 1984 retro beetle was already a real exotic before its conversion to electric and in its past as a combustion vehicle, it was equipped with a Porsche engine. In the rear, the emission-free electric motor now hums and  the fuel filler neck behind the filler cap has been replaced by a charging plug. The charging time is five hours.
